Using the GAME Plan Process with Students

The GAME Plan could be used to help students self-monitor their own learning. Students could set goals for things they want to accomplish throughout the school year. We could set both short term and long term goals. Then, the students could write an action plan to describe how they are going to achieve their goals. Students would then begin implementing their action plan, and when the time arises, I could model for the students how to revise their GAME Plan as needed. I think that the GAME Plan would be very beneficial in the classroom.

  1. Jacqueline,

Great point about having students set goals. With the rush of trying to cram so much content into a year this is generally overlooked. Setting goals is very important when it comes to student success and life beyond school.

  2. Jacqueline,

I feel that the GAME plan model is a wonderful tool to use in the classroom. We make our students set goals in Accelerated Reader and Success Maker. I think if I were to use the GAME plan model as my students were setting their goals, my student would be able to monitor their progress and make adjustments throughout the grading period.

I think you are right on target with the GAME plan path of short- and long-term goals. I am thinking along the same lines, myself and hope it will be successful.

I have to agree with everyone else. Setting short and long term goals with the students sounds like a great idea. Therefore, as the students begin to accomplish goals, they can then "check" them off of their list, monitoring their progess. Excellent idea, that I may "borrow." Thanks!
